Akasa Air adds Ayodhya as the 18th destination to its fast-expanding domestic network

Design inspiration rooted in the company’s core beliefs of employee-centricity and sustainability

National, July 04, 2022: Akasa Air, India's newest airline, today unveiled the first look of its airline crew uniform, featuring a youthful and contemporary design, and colours that reflect the warm, friendly and happy personality of Akasa Air. Keeping in mind ergonomics, aesthetics and comfort, Akasa Air is the first Indian airline to have introduced custom trousers, jackets, and comfortable sneakers for its airline in-flight crew.

The uniform is inspired by the company’s core beliefs of employee centricity and sustainability. The trouser and jacket fabric has been specially made for Akasa Air, using recycled polyester fabric which is made from pet bottle plastic salvaged from marine waste. The uniform fit focuses on providing the best possible stretch to ensure employees’ comfort over their busy flight schedules. Designed by Rajesh Pratap Singh, the jacket draws inspiration from the Indian bandh gala and is forward-looking in a modern version of the garment.

Given the mobile lifestyle of crew members and long hours spent standing, Vanilla Moon designed sneakers that are light, and contain extra cushioning from heel to toe to ensure better support. In line with Akasa Air's approach towards sustainability, the sole of the sneakers is carved from recycled rubber and manufactured without any use of plastic.

Describing the inspiration behind the uniform, Belson Coutinho, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing & Experience Officer, Akasa Air said, “Employee centricity and sustainability are going to be at the core of everything that we do at Akasa Air. From concept to the final outcome, it has been an exciting journey for me to work on these designs and present one of the most unique, sustainable and functional uniforms of our times,” said Rajesh Pratap Singh, who worked with Akasa Air to create the uniform.

Commences sale for daily flights connecting Ayodhya to Pune and Delhi  

  

National, 17 January 2024:  Akasa Air, India’s fastest-growing airline, strengthens its connectivity with the addition of Ayodhya, its 18th destination to its growing domestic network. The airline will operate daily through flights between Pune and Ayodhya via Delhi (with no change of aircraft required at Delhi) enhancing connectivity between Ayodhya and two major hubs. The flights have been introduced for daytime travel during prime hours for passenger convenience. Travellers can now book flights on Akasa Air’s website – www.akasaair.com, Android and iOS app or through multiple leading OTAs. 

The addition of Ayodhya to Akasa Air’s network is aligned with the airline’s commitment to strengthen its domestic operations and provide transportation links to travellers visiting the city at affordable fares.
