Akasa Air launches Akasa Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Training Programme to strengthen India’s aviation skill pipeline on Engineer’s Day

National, September 15, 2026: Akasa Air, India’s fastest-growing airline, announced the launch of its Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) Training Programme, a long-term capability-building initiative designed to strengthen the country’s maintenance and engineering (M&E) talent pipeline. The programme was launched on Engineer’s Day 2026, celebrated annually on 15 September in India.

 

India’s MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) market is projected to grow significantly supported by fleet expansion, higher aircraft utilisation, and increasing domestic maintenance capability. This growth progress is set to create robust demand for skilled professionals across airlines, MROs, and OEMs.

 

Developed in collaboration with leading aviation training institutes, the programme introduces a structured pathway that integrates academic grounding with applied, real-world exposure. It offers hands-on training with Akasa Air, where aspiring professionals will gain exposure to new-generation aircraft, robust operational processes, and maintenance practices, immersing them in the realities of a modern, fast-scaling airline anchored in world-class safety and reliability.

 

Participating institutes include Thakur Institute of Aviation Technology, Mumbai, Pune Institute of Aviation Technology (PIAT), Pune, JRN Institute of Aviation Technology (JRNIAT), Delhi and Hindustan Aviation Academy (HAA), Bengaluru.

Open to Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) graduates, the programme offers an elevated track into aviation careers, with the opportunity to build industry-relevant capabilities and pursue roles across the industry.

 

Since commencing operations in August 2022, Akasa Air has demonstrated a consistent approach to building scale. With 43 aircraft now in its fleet, the airline continues to strengthen its domestic and international network, while maintaining high standards of reliability and customer experience. Akasa Air has placed a firm order for 226 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, with a robust pipeline of 183 additional aircraft scheduled for delivery over the next six years, reflecting its commitment to supporting India’s rapidly growing travel demand.
